Gutters, soffit, fascia and custom flashing
The edge of a roof is where a metal roof is won or lost, and it is where most of our fabrication happens. We bend our own flashings, drip edge, gable and fascia trim to match the panels, hang 5 and 6 inch seamless aluminum gutters sized for Lower Mainland rain, and clad soffit and fascia in metal so the only wood left outside is the siding. Done at the same time as the roof, it costs less and lines up better. We also do it on its own.
- Gutters 5 and 6 inch seamless aluminum
- Hangers hidden, set for sliding snow
- Soffit vented metal for attic intake
- Flashings bent on site to match the roof
The work
Why the edge matters more on a metal roof
Water comes off a metal roof faster than off shingles, and snow slides. Gutters on a metal roof need to be hung slightly lower and further out than on a shingle roof, fastened with hidden hangers rather than spikes, and on sliding-snow roofs they need snow guards above them or they get torn off in the first thaw. Six-inch gutters handle a big steep roof in a November storm better than five.
Soffit is also where the attic breathes. A continuous vented metal soffit gives the intake that most 1970s and 80s houses never had, and it pairs with a ridge vent to keep the roof deck dry. Fascia cladding stops the paint-and-rot cycle on the board behind the gutter.

Worth knowing
Guards and leaf screens
Under cedars and firs, gutters fill with needles every fall. Micro-mesh guards cost more than screens and work; cheap plastic screens do not. On a metal roof, guards also stop needles damming behind snow guards. We will tell you if your roof needs them, and we will tell you if it does not.
Questions
Gutters, soffit, fascia and flashing questions
Five inch or six inch gutters?
Five inch handles most houses. Six inch is worth it on big steep roofs, on metal roofs that shed water fast, and where downspouts are few. The difference in price is modest and we show it on the quote.
Do I need gutter guards?
Under cedars and firs, yes, and micro-mesh is the type that works. On an open lot with no trees, no. We will tell you which you have rather than add a line to every quote.
